camoplast ripsaw

I currently ride a 96 xcr equipped with a camoplast ripsaw that has 5000+ mi. the track is getting to the point where there are not many lugs left. I'm looking to get some extended life out of this tired old crapsaw by installing some woodys studs that i've had kicking around for the past few years.

any ideas on how many studs i should put in the track? i want it to be able to have decent hookup on trails and ice, but at the same time i dont need to be tacked to the trail and plowing snow in the turns.

opinions on the durability of this track? maybe i'm at fault for my riding style but the ripsaw seemed to wear quickly and started chunking early.

5000 miles is a pretty good run for an "abused" track, ridden hard, I have a Ripsaw on my 2000 XC500 with over 1000 miles on it, still looks new,I ditchbang, jump, run on gravel roads, seems to be holding up fine, I would definately buy another one in a heartbeat.

96 or so studs man, be sure to not to put studs on the outside of the track because then you'll really be tearin up that track.

96 seems like a good number and it's what i've been leaning towards. I have over 200 of these woody's studs, is there a link where i can get the suggested pattern for 96?

Excellent diagram, Spun!! where did you find that?
also, I second the 1.25 Ripsaw,my 500xc loves it, really digs in and launches.

I work at Camoplast and can honestly say 1.25 rip saw is the best on the market. Woody's also suggests not putting studs on the outside of your track unless you are racing due to the stress it causes on the track. You will be suprised how well 96 studs will get you by sir and far as the longevity of the track profiles. Also check your tunnel protectors to see if you are rubbing your tunnel.
