skid upgrade

O.K., I've taken on a summer project that I'm referring to as "the frakenstein project". Its a 1993 yamaha exciter II 570 and I'm thinking about changing to a better rear suspension. The machine is already just about completely dissassembled, except for the motor. I'm not sure what will work best as an upgrade, and how to determine the new mounting position for the skid. Any thoughts?

The best way to figure out where the new skid will mount is to measure the mounting holes on the old sled (distance between, etc.).

The feedback I've received about this sled is that the front suspension is pretty good, but the rear suspension leaves something to be desired. What should I be looking for as a replacement?

An Xtra 10 or something out of a newer V-max, etc.
