Tire Help

Hey guys, I am looking into get a 33inch tire, or a 305/75/16 for my F350. I went to an off road shop the other day to see what size tires I could fit in my stock set up. We were able to get a 33 inch tire in there, so thats what I am going to do. But heres my problem, have you guys ever heard of an E rated tire on a 33 inch tire? I want to make sure I keep a strong tire on my truck, seeing its meant for work and I do use it to tow equipment so keeping strength in the sidewall would be important for me, any of you help me on this? I dont want a mud tire, just a nice All Terrain for road use

make sure it is a high ply tire (read the side of the tire, if you want good sidewall strength...

Ya the best I am finding is a D in that BFG, and that aint going do it for me, I just cant waste this trucks integrity with a tire that cant hold up to its strength you know? Its like putting slicks on a mud truck, it just dont make sense, or having no hitch on your truck. Along them lines.

i don't know what the d rating is... i've never heard of it... must be a different rating down there i guess... but up here they go by plys in the sidewall... a 6 or 8 would be good... i put a set of nexem roadians on a dodge half tonne today at work... they were a 6 ply tire.... and 8 would be better though i can't think off hand what tire would be an 8 ply tire... as long as their an LT tire they should be okay though wouldn't they? actually my boss from the summer hauls all kinds of machinary and gravel and shit... sometimes both at once... he has the same tires as i have on my truck... i got a set of yokohoma geolanders (there a little bit of a cheaper tire i think there like 200 bucks a piece or so... hold on ill go outside andd check what the play rating is on them...

my tires are a 3 ply sidewall and a 2 steel 1 polyester ply tread... and thats what my boss used to haul everything and it was fine.... i think as long as you have an LT tire you should be okay to put a load on them... but i do agree i would go with something a little heavier...

Thanks MX; I basically just want my tire to have the same specs as my current tires. There E Rated tires, 80 psi goes in them, they each can hold 3,500 pounds. They make my Pirelli Scorpion in a 285, but even then I wouldnt do an early sway out only for a one size differnecne. Thanks again MX

dont put the maximum pressure in your tires unless you have the maximum load on each one... for the proper air to have in your tires... read the sticker on your door (if it's still there) that will give you the proper tire pressure for your truck... obviously increase it if you've got a big load on... but otherwise i would go with that...

Ya the sticker is gone. The pirellies I am running now, have 50 psi in them, they are such a great tire. But my sticker in my door got ripped off when she got painted. But it wouldnt have helped anyway because the stock tire size for these trucks was a disgusting 235/75/16! So tiny

ya i figured since ou have painted your truck it wouldn't be there... just take a resonable ammount off of your maximum pressure and you should be ok...

actually those BFG's i recomended im not so sure about them now... my service manager and me were talking about them today at work and he mentioned that they are known for wearing unevenly, and also the fact they they have a rediculously big price tag on them... apparently they aren't worth what you pay for them. i looked into it... those nexen roadians that i recomended are an E load range... but they are not as nice as i thought... the 17 inch ones are real nice... but i put 2 16 inch ones on a truck today and they are a completely different tread pattern... not near as aggressive... same model and everything :S but good luck finding a tire man

Ya, I have decided to stick with a 285/75/16, its the perfect size, its big and bold, and useable. I am going to get the same tire I have now, but go with the 285 in the pirelli scorpion and its E rated with aggressive all terrain tread

The rating with the A-Z only has to do with the speeds the tire can handle. I think in my work vehicle, we run Y-rated which allows speeds up to about 170MPH.

im pretty sure the load range letter (D for example) has to do with how much of a load you can put on that tire... thats what he's reffering to... but i could be wrong...

Ya the lettering I am referring to, is the the strength of the sidewall, so when I am loaded up, the truck wont have a sinky ride, but will ride hard and stiff like it does now. I really bet i wouldnt mind the D's, but I also dont want to have this thing all loaded up some day, and be going down the highway with D loaded tires with a 10,000pound load, and have a an excavtor on my trailer start swaying side to side because the truck cant drive straight cause of week sidewall tires. Thanks guys for inputs.

the best thing to do for your truck if your hauling big loads, is spend 300 bucks and put air bags in the ass end... pump them up and the truck won't sag at all...

honestly... that will be the best 300 bcuks you'll ever spend on your truck if you're hauling big loads...
