Headers?
I am in the market for performance headers for the F350. I have done some research, and theres not many options in terms of make, but alot in terms of price. I want to go full out I think I will go with two seperate collectors filtering into independent high flow catylitic inverters, going through seperate flowmaster super 40-series mufflers, and cat back the system. Both pipes bein 3 inches minimum all the way back to the headers to the back. I think that will make it loud, and really allow for it to breath. Currently I got a high flow cat going into a 40 series dual outlet, but if i get the headers, it would be the time to go for the cat back with the seperate routes of the collectors and catylitic inverters.

just remember if you do go true duals, youll need a "x" pipe or an "H" pipe to equal out the pressure. its also good for sound. my buddy put an off road H pipe on his stang and it woke it up and made it sound good.
IRS - no sh!t this whole truck is a friggin project in itself. its almost like the sf.com project F-Series of the summer.

it all depends. if your getting a flowmaster system, they provide either one. or if your just going to have your shop fab the system from scratch they can do the same. honestly, i dont really konw what the pros/cons for x or h are, or which one is better/worse

Okay, Yeah I will just have to see which one whinds up going in, I will ask around, see which alleiviates more pressure than the other, or maybe you dont want to much pressure being alleviated.

on a show they did a header test, and the biggest ones didnt perform as well actually. the 4 to 2 to 1 did best...so yeah, the biggest and most expensive is always best.

Lol damn, tthats where they make there money. But damnit i needed to give this engine the respect it deserves, not all these 4.6. 4.8. and 5.4 showing me up with noise factor. Right now mine sounds like a dragon, i want a differnt tone, the loudness is fine, but the tone is just the tone of a big block, not an exhaust sound.

x pipes are where its at. they are louder and it gives the exhaust a slightly higher pitch. also flowmasters are for grain trucks LOL. get some real mufflers like dynomax welded ultraflows. I have them on my stangs and they actually made more power than flows. check the vid. my mach 1 with off road x pipe and ultraflows. quite a few engine mods too. its a mid-high 12 sec car

X-pipes sound great on Mustangs, but for a big-block, I'd go H-pipe for sure...I think an X would sound funny.

I dunno man, my buddy( who owns a muffler shop) has a 67 beaumont with a 850hp blown big block and it runs the same mufflers as me and an x pipe. it sounds downright pissed off at the world

if you want it to be loud do a dynomax bullet
DYNOMAX Performance Exhaust
they sound awesome got really great flow to there not street legal but it doesnt really matter they are suppost to be for race purpose only but ehhh nobody will say anything.... there pretty cheap and if u put them on with a turn down it will sound great i wouldnt even run the tails after the mufflers i would just dump it right after

a few guys up here went back from the bullets to the ultraflows/race magnums. you ultimately need a certian amount of back pressure for everything to work properly and bullets dont do it unless its a very serious engine. my friends beaumont (as mentioned above) is 850hp and he didnt like the bullets and went back to what I run. I also noticed that hooker or dynomax dont even offer headers for your truck. I was going to mention too that since its a 4x4 you will not likely be able to run a long tube header because of transfer case clearance. if you do find some, the pipes will hang down and will be ripped off every time you go off road(my friend has this issue with his 79 bronco) your best bet is to find some short or mid legnth units (I searched and also could not find) that way your down pipes will still be in the stock location. another thing to keep in mind is that now you have both pipes coming into a Y pipe and going around the transfer case. they do this for packaging. going true duals from the manifolds/headers back will give you the clearance issues mentioned above. you might be best off to go with a big single system 3" or 3.5" but the latter is likely overkill for the power you make. just some stuff to think about. sometimes thats the trouble with having something that just isnt supposed to be modded like a sportscar.
good luck
Fred

Yea running true dual you may also run into ground clearance problemsif you take her off roading, although it probably is high enough not to worry to much. Just take it to someone local that does their own systems and see what they say. I did that for my car and I ended up with exactly what I wanted, custom mandrel bent for my car for like $200 more then if I bought everything seperatly and did it myself
