Hey,
Couldn't help but notice the talk on the LED's. Check out my site at http//removed by mod. (Please contact admin to advertise.) I manufacture snowmobile lighting systems. Not LED's but neon. Been around for 15 years and hold patents on the systems. If your serious about bright, not blinding lighting for your running boards and under your hood you need to take a look. I know there's a lot of talk on the LED's but I've had em all and the kits are the brightest and come with all you need to get going. I've got kits out there for 15 years still going strong. If you have a great LED system let me know as I am looking for a solid system to add for those who just think LED's are it, I just have not found one yet. And by the way, my products are made in the USA and you do not need a battery for Snow Glows. The people who knock neon haven't had it. The Amp draw is less that 1/2 amp per 24" tube and the durability is great. Please check it out as I think you will really see a difference.
Brad

Brad, I love My snowglow I got from you last year! Some of buddies have Snowforce and Don't like them at all. Lol They want to change over. I just wanted to say thanks for such a great product, and info about them when I talk to you when I ordered them. When Im riding down the trail people will stop me and ask where did I get those sweet lights. I tell them snowglow. I highly recommend them to everyone!

I was hoping to just wire into the headlights or something like that, but I know then I would have to worry about unconstant voltage. Did anyone have to get a voltage regulator or something? Please let me know how you hooked yours up.
Depending on the LED's 6 of the super bright ones can draw up to 1 AMP of power. To fire neon you will need a transformer capable of handleling up to 39volt + spikes when you hit the gas. Power draw per tube will be about 1/2 amp per 24" tube. The sled will most likely idle with 7 to 9 volts. Beware, if your trying to use off the shelf neon it will NOT last!!!!!!!! Voltage regulators for snowmobiles can be purchased at Snow Glow.

It was a pack of small (less than 1" diameter) round LED pods i bought at canadiantire. 8 pods in a pack, 4 LED's per pod.

I picked up some leds from autozone and they are super bright and very nice waterproof design and hold up really well.

I'm super interested in LED underglow type installations.
I just did one on my sled and it was a blast.
Ran the engine kit over 6" of snow we had for a night, but was gone the next day. Now have the running board extension and can not wait to run it over snow to see what it looks like.

Anyone else have installations, pictures, advice?

Here are some pictures and videos of mine.
YouTube - BHShaman's Channel

Quickie shots with my ancient digital camera.

YouTube - Skidoo GTX 500SS : Joe Florida - 72LED Multi-Function Install

Lights in Action Video: Hit HQ for 'better' view, but not real HQ (sorry)
Better Video down below

I don't make the kits. I live in Maine, the maker lives in Florida. I just got good service and a good product, and in todays day and age of impersonal sales if someone goes out of their way to help me I don't mind plastering their name all over. I have not mentioned the maker here because I don't want to break any rules about that. But the videos are labeled so people know what I used.

Low Def video Samples on the little bit of snow we got.
I'll install the running boards in a week or two.

YouTube - Skidoo GTX 500SS LED Light Kit - Parked on Snow

YouTube - Skidoo GTX 500SS LED Light Kit - Quick Drive By

The Gel Flex Strips fit exactly between the outer lip under the running board and the cut outs.
I think it is going to work really well.

Got bored. Don't have the Mini-DV camera back yet.
But I temp taped up the LED strips and loose wired them to the remote box.
Here are a couple pictures and a small video with my low def P&S.

Can not wait to see the running boards on snow.
I installed them today.

Last of the videos until we get snow.

I hope they were helpful to people.
Searching the web for information, I found some great explanations and some pictures. But, I wanted to go one step further and 'show' how it could be done to give others more information on top of what was already out there. Thanks to everyone that posted in various threads in the past. Your willingness to share information and pictures gave me the incentive to try and do the same in return.

I've been looking for some pink LEDs for the wife's sled but would love to simply hook them up to a battery pack that I can hook onto the sled or that she can even put into her pocket when she wants them on. Does anyone know where I can get these or if they even make them?

LEDS don't need much for power.
You can find 9V snap connectors at your local Radio Shack:
Product #: 270-324

Get rechargeable 9Vs and just charge them between trips.
Not tried them on snowmobile yet, but they last 72 continuous hours or so on MC or ATV in warmer weather.
Will be installing blue kit with 9Vs on brothers sled, but will be a month or so.

Where do you store the batteries when you're riding?

If your sled has E-Start you just wire directly into battery terminals.
The 9Vs? Anywhere you have space. Just get a neoprene case and zip tie the case in somewhere and run the leads to the case and store them there.

That is what I did for my remote control box. Zip-tied in a neoprene case and zipped it into the case. Lots of places to place it on the inside of an engine bay. You can find them for $5.

Would you be interested in making one for me if I paid you for the time and supplies? If it is reasonable I would be more than happy to pay you for it, what do you think?

I did not make the one I use. I bought it.
Where I bought mine has kits for 1/2 what I paid for single color with simple on/off switch. You can see the store information in the video description if you go to youtube. They don't sponsor here so probably not appropriate to post it directly.

I don't think they will hold up, you could put some gorilla glue on the adhesive and that should do the trick for awhile.
