Hood not sitting right
I have a 85-89 Indy 500. The guy I bought the sled from said he broke the hood while replacing the piston. Now there's a Indy 400 hood on there, but it doesn't quite seat right. Is there any difference in hood size between the 2, and is there a method of adjusting the hood to have it sit better? It seems that it sits back too far (toward the driver). The keys/choke are burried in about 1-2", but the hood seems to sit back about 1-2" as well. Is there a way to adjust this?
Thanks,
pb

Does the hood "fit" the contour of the tub? The front hinge may be pushed back, etc. I think the hoods were the same size.

The hood fits the contour of the sled. It might be the brackets got bent. It seems that they're sitting as far forward as they can. Do I just need new brackets?

Hard to tell without seeing the sled.

This is a pic of the hood (from the back) not sitting right. It seats in the track just fine, but seems to go a bit far back. The sled is a 500, but the hood is off a 400. You can see how deep the ignition console is burried and there is a space on the nose. Does that help?

Check the hinge mounts, they could be bent. That gap is way too big.

I know my sled is older, but where can I get a set of hinge mounts for my '85 indy? There are plenty of places to buy quad parts online, but I haven't had the same luck finding snowmobile parts online.

Ebay.... TONS OF THEM AROUND! If I only had the GFS 86 on me, I would check to see if the hinges are the same is a 94, etc...
You maybe able to unbolt the hinges, bend them straight and reuse.

You should be able to bend them back.
