OK, having a good background knowledge of this, as I worked at a place that we did decaling on transport trucks, ect. I can give you some tips if you wish.

1. You will need a heat gun for sure. Since these are cold weather decals, they may not want to play nice

2. Does your hood have any fading in the paint?

3. Are the decals cracked at all from sun/weather damage?

4. Do not get over anxious. Most likely they will peel off in little tiny pieces if you have bad luck.

5. Do not focus on one area for too long, if you overheat that area you are SOL.

If you want anymore tips, send me a PM and I will help you out.

Thanks

That thing is in great shape for almost a 20 year old sled.
Don't go ruining a future vintage sled by peeling the graphics off.

Can you post of pic of the decals on the tunnel? They may be metalized decals, in which case those are a whole new beast.....

Yes, I agree I would use a hair dryer. You COULD use a heat gun, but with no experience it would probably get too hot, and you risk screwing stuff up. Best bet is to hold the hair dryer about 6 inches from surface, and use a circle pattern to heat the area. Heat one section at a time, and peel it off. Do not concentrate the heat on one area, or else if you do overheat it, fiberglass will bubble and burn, but thats a story for another time

If your decals are really cracked, most likely the decal will peel off in little tiny pieces. If you feel like shooting yourself, the snowmobile, or someone else, dont worry, I have been there, only with transport trucks, so therefore about 20 times the amount of decals.

As far as telling how much heat is too much, if you touch the surface and it feels HOT, thats too much. You just want it WARM so the glue lets go, and you can peel the decal off. The decals may leave behind some glue. I will not give out publicly any tips on how to remove this as it is different for EVERY application, and I dont want someone blaming me because they screwed up there ride. If you want more info, anyone can PM me, and i will get back to you ASAP.

I just did this to the wife's sled, take a hair dryer and warm up the decals, they will literally pull right off then use some goo gone to take the sticky residue off, works like a charm, no need for knives or razors.

We used a portable shop light to heat up my crossfire 6 decals. Set it on the ground next to the sled and waited bout 15 minutes. worked pretty well AND had both hands free to double fist beer.
