seat cover replacement:BEWARE!!
yesterday i recieved me new seat cover for my Arctic Cat ZL 600.took off the seat and tank assembly with no problem.took the staples out and removed the old cover.put the new cover on and pulled it tight as i stapled it in place.turned out great!put the seat and tank assembly back on and stood back and admired my work (at a boy i said to myself)decided to take it out for a ride to show the world.about an hour into my ride my lower leg and ancle started to really hurt(almost a burning sensation!)decided to stop and check it out.reached down to feal my ancle and found my boot and pants leg were soaked with gas!!probably a hole in the gas line i thought?so i cut the ride short and went home.took off my gear to see my leg and ancle bright red from the gas(looks like a bad sun burn)showered and decided to check the sled in the A.M.by the time i got out to check it a half tank of gas had leaked out!took the seat/tank off and checked it over closely.found that the "great job"i had done on the seat cover was alittle to GREAT!!i had popped two staples into the rear coner of the gas tank!!!hence the leak!moral of the story is if you replace your seat cover be DAM sure you know where you are stapling!!
side note:i fixed the staple holes using a soldering iron.
