hood flames

Today I decided to test myself and see how good I can draw flames, because I am going to paint green flames on my hood once I gets the bodywork done and a new coat of black paint put on it. So I went and pulled one sticker off my new/used hood I bought "the one on mine is cracked up" taped a line of tape down the middle and start drawing and this is what I came up with. What ya think? for the first time drawing flames... any tips?

go to an autosupply place that has painting supplies and get some of the thin (1/4") masking tape. it should be able to curl and bend when you lay it on the cowling. that way you can do multiple designs till you find one you like. on topic, i prefer a more curving and fine flame. long "licks" that curve to a fine tip... just my .02
