Handle Bar Risers

My 3 inchers didn't fit on my sled, 1999 Polaris Indy 500 RMK

Cables were too tight, but yet I see other people on here with Polaris' that say their 3 inch risers fit! Any suggestions?

try re routing your cables that might give you the extra room or get throttle and break extensions!

Ditch Hopper, extensions cost money. I'm in college and can't afford that! I'll look to re route I suppose or bandsaw off 1/2 an inch

I know I know, but cutting it is free, so thats the way its going to happen if I can't get it to work by re routing the wires. Clutch kit would be nice too, but thats more money.

yea I dono. I got mine to work fine. I have some aftermarket cables from dennis kirk. I bougt them way before I decided to get risers so I just got what they says was stock size. But for me. it worked great until i turned right. it would give one cylinder more gas when I was turning. so what I did was cut a small notch in my hood so it can pull down a little more (the cable goes in the notch when I close the hood).. that fixed it. works great now. did you try swaping the cables left to right. the left carb is offset and takes a little longer cable. Mine were originally backwords - It would not work unless I swaped them.

If you REALLY wanted to use the full three inches you could rout the cables THREW the air box. I think i would cut off a 1/2 an inch before that.

is it just throttle or brake cables to?.. All I did for the brake cable was bend the metal portion of the line up a litle and it worked great!

I'm too snowmobile illiterate to know which cables they are that are too tight, but come next Wednesday, I'll have those risers on one way or another!

ahh, if you cant tell a throttle cable from a brake line I dont think you should be working on a snowmobile. not to be mean. lol.. but the throttle cable goes directly into the carb and it a plastic like cable that come from the right side of the bar. the brake line is rubber and goes directly to the brake and comes from the left side of the bar.

spanky follow the lines going from the break handle to the caliper! and the line coming from the throttle to the carbs

I've hardly even looked at it ya dicks! I'm sure if I take the time and looked I could easily figure it out. Not to mention I'm always 50+ miles away from my snowmobile, no room to park it at my apartment...

I put on a 3 inch ply pivot riser and a pivot adapter for a total rise of about 4 1/2 inches, and didnt have to lengthen cables at all. Should be pretty basic.
