I also would like to see you take the belt off when you first start it and turn the bars to make sure it does not launch when the cables get pulled.

i got 4 1/2" out of my 97 MXZ, i cut the zip ties that held the cables and changed the angle the break line went into the caliper.
Make sure after you get it installed you start it up on a stand and turn the bars all the way to the right and left to make sure it doesn't pull your throttle cable. Also check that it doesn't pull the cable that goes to your oil pump. I had a buddy that put a riser on and wondered why he suddenly was going through a tank of oil w/ every tank of gas.

sorry to bring bad news but most of the cables will need altering. I tryed to fit just a 2" riser and came into a few problems although it would have worked just i dont like cutting corners.. .

Not extending the throttle cable for a start! Not a hard job just a little work involved. I encountered problems just with a 2" riser

i have 97 mxz 670 and i put 5in? risers and handlebars on mine, i did have to buy a throttle ext. kit, but i held off on buying a longer brake line. i just re-routed thr brake line and moved the brake lever closer to the center of the bars. works fine! saved $50+

Most times you can get away with at least a 4" riser with no alterations other than some re-routing. I have sold many up to 6" that required no alterations, but there are some shorter than 4" that needed cable extensions or other alterations. You really need to be very careful to check all of your cables, wiring and brake lines closely for interference or binding. It's just not worth taking the chance of meeting a tree under the wrong circumstances.

i put a 6 inch on mine and all i had to do was extended the throttle cable (was only like 2 inch's short and i had to ad a 10 inch extension so now the cable is way to long) and had to change the angle of the brake line on the leaver.

what you can do is cut a piece of wood to the size of your riser before you buy it. then you can test fit it to see if you'll need new cables.
i put on a 2" riser on my sled, and that is the highest i can go before needing to extend the cables.
but remember, if you have hand warmers or any other cables they may need to be extended as well. not just the throttle/break.

This is sorta related to this post, do they sell throttle cable and brake line extensions? I am putting some 5 or 6 inch risers on my ZR500 this winter, along with some Tag bars and other stuff, and am probably going to need to extensions. How expensive are these parts? Thanks for the help.
