exhaust painting help

Hello was wondering how to prep an exhaust for painting I don't have a sand blaster or a paint gun so I will be using a spray paint. Also the exhaust is out of a 1990. thanks

Wire brush clean. Or You could get fancy and sand it all down. None the less spray it then when the rust starts to show spray it again. One can could do the whole thing several times.

make sure you use high temp paint BBQ black works best..

I have painted a couple and the best spray bomb I found was the ceramic based stuff. Seems to stick better w/ the high heat. Doesn't flake off. Not powdery either.

can I use a wire brush on a drill I guess that would be a wire wheel also what grit of sand paper should I use

I used a wire brush on an electric die grinder. Don't use too much pressure tho, if you have any rusty or week spots you will burn thru.

i used duplicolor 1500 degree paint. It holds up great. also how come nobody paints their header pipe. it looks like crap when poeple dont! just my pet peev.

Here's what I do.
1. Wirebrush to get all the loose rust off
2. Paint with a Naval Jelly (neutralizers rusts and makes a good primer)
3. Paint with a very high heat paint
