Taillight works, headlight does not - bulb tested OK

I have a 97 Polaris indy 500. After starting it, the taillight works ok, the headlight does not come on. There are 3 lights - none work. I took the bulb out and put it on another snowmachine and it worked fine. Do they have a stator. What else could be wrong or is it the stator or alternator? Ed

Also check the wireing between the switch and the light for cuts and corroded plugs. Like at the hood disconnect.
