compression

how much compression do you huys think my 89' cougar 500 should have?

between 120 and 140 is normal, depending on elevation (lower elevations make more compression, there's more air per stroke to compress.) Under 110 is showing some ring wear, under 100 and it's hard to make good power with 'em.

The difference in compression between cylinders is as important as high compression. Cylinders should be about the same, if one is a lot higher or lower than the other, there could be a problem.

wow, cool, i musrt be doing good then cause i just checked them and their both at 150 psi. i guess my runability problem isn't in my compression. they hold the pressure for a while too, thanx
