better suspension ??

My 93 arctic cats suspension needs some help. Ive ajusted the shock and when you ride it while its soft it bottoms out so we tightened it up and now it'll beat the living **** out of you and break your teeth. this was last year. Is there any other shock or mods that can be done to allow me to have a softer ride without it bottoming out.

You say you adjusted the shock!!?? Or did you compress the spring by running the adjustment nut up? If you did that, you have increased the spring rate while decreasing your suspension travel, since the spring may compress to until the coils bottom out on each other. The only way to stiffen the damping of your shocks is to have them revalved or possibly use heavier shock oil.

nope it is either one or the other. you have to find a good spot in the adjustment of the springs.

The front shock in the track suspension is best set at only 1 complete turn up. The rear link should have the rods connected in the lower hole and then set the preload block for your weight, that is on the highest lift for over 250 lbs. use the lower settings for a lighter rider. You should be able to bounce on it and get about 4 inches of vertical travel without botteming the suspension. Adjust to suit accordingly.
