Question Info on Silencers

Has anyone had any type of engine problems when they put on anytype of silencers they may have because i may get one but my warranty doesnt cover the sled because its an add on part

And arent all silencers pretty much the same juz designed differ to fit?

you dont need to rejet for a new silencer. sno stuff makes a good can for a good price.

...how much HP it makes doesnt effect decibals. if i had a hole in my exhaust, id lose power, and it would be louder. even if they make the same decibals, the sound erks cops (well, depends where you ride). in ontario, they are really strict, but places that some people ride here say that everyone has tloud pipes.

(silencers dont silence the sled)

im guessing in iowa city they are not to concerend about loud pipes. in the midwest we dont have stupid politicains that make up meaningless rules.

Magoo...by Ontario do you mean my province or a city in the States, because here in Wawa theres probably more loud silencers than there are stock sleds and nobody seems to mind. Secondly if I read properly the sound makes all the difference with respect to HP gain just because the different frequencies force more of a vacuum in the cylinders causing more intake...

you can still have something loud with not much gain. is your area a pretty big town? we go to bracebridge and north bay (north bay is a bit better), and the people in our club with loud pipes stopped going because of the fines.

i wasnt saying silencers themselves lose trails and are evil, i was just pointing out there could be a difference in sound.

Wawa...where is that at, exactly? like, closer to Mattawa, Gravenhurst/Bracebridge...?

mechanical problems..no..a lot of people buy silencers for their sleds and they are mostly set up so you dont have to re-jet...but i have actually run a test on a 04 f7 with a silencer (forget brand?) and we ran it right down the lake in good conditions with a GPS and got 108 and did it again and got the same....took silencer off and put stock on and ran the same track...except we got 104.....and we did it a couple times and got a range of 103 to 105 for speed....In my opinion you lose top end power and top speed..ill have to try it on other sleds this year and see the results

The only benefit a after market silencer does is loose a little weight over stock. Most of the time you actually loose some power. They also never fit as good as the factory ones and can leak and wear the pipe were it connects to the silencer.
They are just not worth the trouble.

no offense to those who have one or like them but you buy the silencer to lose power and along with it you get the sound that although fun and cool at first wears on ya and end up finding anooying.. doesnt seem worth it to me..

Same here man...My Mach Z had a Dynoport on it, I put it back to stock because it got annoying on long trips.
