78 AC Driven Clutch Adjustment??

Anybody know how to adjust this? My setting is on number 2 of 4 and I want to try it on setting 3 or 4 just to see what it feels like. Also, anyone know where to get a cheap clutch puller for the drive clutch on this machine? Thanks for any help!!

you dont need a puller to get the clutch of, it is probly stuck on. as for your spring if you advance it it will lessen your wot rpm, if you wind it tighter(move it back) it will raise your wot rpm.

Are you saying I don't need a puller for the drive clutch? I would say that if it is stuck a puller would be the thing to get it off! Also, I was asking how to adjust the driven clutch up to 3 or 4 not what it does.

Later......

oh I must of mis read your post you do need a puller for the primary.

if there is more spring tension on the secondary it keeps the belt higher up in the clutches, therefore making the motor run at a higher rpm,(its like keeping a dirtbike in second gear and reving up rather than shifting up to third.) as you decrease the spring tension the clutch will seperate more and the belt will fall father down than it would before, which will give you more top end with a lower rpm(third gear).

as for a cheap puller,

Man, this is like asking someone what time it is & getting a dissertation on how to build a clock.

there are holes in the helix and and on the back of the clutch sheif, if you move the spring back it will give you more wot rpm. all you have to do is take apart, compress the clutch and take out the snap ring. the snap ring is on the back of the helix, and you may need a comprssor to take it apart but if you get some one else to compress the clutch you could probly get the snap ring out.
