1998 Arctic Zr 600 EFI bogging issues
Lets start off here. The motor was recently rebuilt got it reinstalled ran great before a bit then it started bogging and popping alot. Cleaned out the fuel tank now it don't pop and it idles good again and always starts on two pulls and revs up but when driving it just bogs so far down to where it almost dies but if you let off the throttle it will go back to idle and if you feather the throttle it will drive with lots of bogging.
Had it in the garage seems to run and rev with no problems just the minute you go to drive it just bogs and wants to die. Can't seem to figure it out. Just to add the primary clutch has been rebuilt. Not sure if that would cause this issue.

Have you bypassed the TSS yet?
If not...Do it.
The worse that can happen is that it will eliminate that common gremlin in the future.

Bogs are usually in the clutches! The center to center is suposed to be 12.2"! If the engine was removed was it alined? off set? Were the clutches cleaned?

I have the 98 ZR 600 EFI too. I'll just add my .02 here. I had a bogging and backfiring issue a few years back and it was caused by using the cheap oil. At that time it had maybe 1500 miles total on the machine so barely broken in. I had always bent over and bought the AC oil from the dealer and finally decided I didn't want to spend the money since it is so overpriced. It bogged and got terrible mileage with the cheap oil. On a hunch I bought the Arctic Cat branded oil and the symptoms instantly went away. Funny thing is the cheap oil works fine on my carbed sled. Just a thought.

Does by any chance suspension could do this? I had a shop change the track on it. Never drive it with the new track due to the motor was out. It seems awfully soft and me being a smaller guy (120 lbs) i sorta bottom out the suspension. Just don't seem right but i could be wrong.

Suspension could cause it...but you'd have to be really out of adjustment ect...more than likely it is an engine/ignition issue.

Would the throttle bodies themselves cause this? I may go get them cleaned and inspected those are the only things that sat in there for a while. When the motor was out and everything.

Just an update. I had regular unleaded gas in the tank got rid of it. Put premium and i tossed amsoil 2-stroke in the oil injector reservoir (Which is expensive) Fired it up it had a small cough and then got better. Now runs Great. Thanks for all the help though.

Ok so it was what I suggested in my post above. It's nice when the easiest solution is the right one. I still don't understand why these sleds are so oil picky even way back when it was nearly new.

nuzz... the computer in the sled is meant to run regular unleaded, not the higher octane. Use reg 87 octaine and add some stabil ethonal treatment.
All I run in Amsoil Injector oil. Runs better and smokes less than the cat oil.. ya know the stuff that turned my green side panel black
Also every year run a little bit of sea foam through it, it will clean out the injectors.

At lower rpm's it probably takes 10 minutes or more for the oil you dump in to make it to the engine... lots of tubing, and at low rpm there is very little flow of oil... drip.... drip.... drip....

^ I just meant when i dumped it in there and gave it a small test drive during the drive it kinda had a small muffled pop but it all ran great after that. Hopefully it keeps running good.

Sorry for bumping. It's fixed and im posting in order to attempt to help others. First off the tps wires have worn down and was hitting against the steering column changed 4 of the motor mounts with new washers in it. Realigned clutches (which the belt was backwards) got it fixed. And still ran a little bad so i changed the plugs to top it off and that solved it all.
