Exclamation 97' Artic Cat Wildcat 700 efi kills under deceleration

Hi fellow snowmobile forum members, in my recent riding I have experienced my sled dieing under deceleration and will not start again. The key is on, kill switch on and there is no dash lights and no fuel pump. This has happened to me twice now and after waiting for about 5 minutes, comes back to life and starts immediately. I can't figure the problem out, battery connections are good, and starts and runs fine for about a half hour, and sometimes does, sometimes not and it starts again after waiting. Any ideas or diagnostics will be greatly appreciated, thank you.

Start by putting a voltage tester to the battery. If ur battery is not 100% it can cause efi sleds to do some weird stuff. Next do a compression test. If ur cylinders are not within 10% of each other and over 110psi u have a bigger problem.

Mason,

Sounds like the cdi box is going. There also a little square blue box the controls the lights. I had similar issues and just changed mine and lights back on.

CDI just quits! Could be the external coil! Try a lwan mower battery, Way cheaper and more amps!

So is this really a 97 Wild Cat? I didn't think they made a 96?

Yes more likely the Coil. CDI would just fail and you wouldn't get any spark. Battery wont be the issue because why would it run fine, shut off, than restart with no extra charge likely not the battery.

Stators are usually fine in these sleds.

If you are saying the sled just dies and when you turn the key on and off no battery light. You have a power source issue. Check wiring from Regulator/ Relays to the battery and ECU. 1 rubbed out wire can cause nightmares.

I would not only go threw the wireing but take apart all the connectors and give them a shot of WD40 atleast!

only reason I mentioned the cdi was because I had a similar issue. Once the cdi was warmed up it seemed the connection in side would go haywire. Someone said to put in in the oven and heat it up I just ended getting a new one.
