99 zr 600 top speed of 70 mph

I just bought a 99 ZR 600 carbed for $1100 its suppose to have a rebuilt top end new bearings in the chaincase and suspension. It must have clutch kit because it takes off at 5500 rpm. It also has a D&D power breather, aftermarket can, and some D&D suspension stuff. It performs very well for a 600 it pulls wheelies well and beats my buddys 2000 polaris 700 out of the hole. The only problem I got with it is it will only do 70-75 mph at WOT. The guy says its got a new secondary and it has a purple spring dont know if this is the cause of the problem. Any Ideas how to correct this?

how about gearing? I'm running the full mountain gearing on my zr and it probably won't get much above that, which I'm perfectly fine with. It gets there in a hurry!

I'd just pop open the chain case. You don't know how long that oil has been in there, and when its open, you can take a look at the gears, as well as the condition of the chain.

It should have 20-39! I would also look at the belt and the center to center(12 1/4")

I think max rpm was just above 8000 rpm dont remeber exactly what it was. I might pull the chaincase cover with this damn 40 degree weather gonna have to wait for more snow now to test anyway.
