'03 Pantera - whirring/metal on metal noise

Took out my new to me'03 550 liquid cooled Pantera for a ride yesterday, and whenever it would rev over 7,000 rpms there was a whirring/squealing/metal on metal noise coming from the engine compartment. The noise would only start up at 7k rpm and stop at about 8k.

Any thoughts about what could be causing this? The belt is in very good shape and the sled only has 1400 miles.

Thanks,

Evan.
