Yet another Cat with no spark.

1993 Cougar 440, started off the season with no spark because I forgot to plug in the TSS wires on one carb, found it and plugged it in and it fired right off with strong spark. Rode it about 5 miles just around home, now this morning I have no spark again. Pulled the TSS wires off, plugged em back in, tried the override up on the handlebars, nothing I've done with the TSS has done anything. Any ideas what else could be wrong? I would think it has to be something simple, it ran two days ago without any hint of any kind of trouble.

Most snowmobile problems are caused by a loose nut connecting the handlebars to the seat.

Simply start with the 4 way plug at the motor. Unplug it and test then jump the brown and black wires on the engine side! This will atleast tell ya if it is a kill or more serious!

Sled has a 3-wire plug, jumped the two outside prongs together, no dice.

The 3 prong is from the stator to the CDI. There is a 4-prong plug that goes to your wiring harness...that is the one that has 4 wires. 2 are yellow and 2 are non-yellow. Use a jumper wire on the 2 non yellow:

The 4-wire plug on this sled was all the way up underneath the "shroud" over the gas tank, by the key switch and such. I tried jumping the two non-yellow wires, and still no spark. I left that jumper in and tried the TSS jump as well. Does anybody have the specific readings you should see to test the coil? Does the CDI box ground through the mounting bolts? Took the spark plugs out of the sled and hooked em to the wires of another, plugs are brand new and spark great on the other sled.

We've bypassed the ignition switch as well. At the start of the year I had no spark, but it was because I forgot to plug in one of the TSS wires from a carburetor after I cleaned them. I plugged that wire in and it ran perfect. I went out one day and the gas was siphoned out of it. I put gas in and found again I had no spark.

What they are suggesting is that you are attempting to bypass it at the switch by the handlebars they are saying bypass it at the stator plug coming out of the motor.

Down by the stator under the recoil there is a 4-5 inch harness that comes out of your stator. That feeds the rest of your Harness. it should be 4 prong( coming out of the motor)

If you unplug that from your motor and jump the 2 non yellow wires that eliminates all of the switches period. This will tell you if you have Switch problem or a CDI/Coil problem.

That 4-prong plug is up by the airbox. There's a 3-prong and a 2-prong down at the stator, but no 4-prong, unless it's way the hell down underneath the stator.

There is a 4 way down by the stator. Unless it is an EFI?
