arctic cat wildcat air box

has anyone ever had to remove an air box from a 1996 arctic cat wildcat 700 efi before? its a nightmare. i would like to know who designed this satanic device. they should be punished. anyway.. you can geuss that i have no intension of putting it back in. im thinking of creating some sort of cold air intake. what do you guys think? how should i go about this.

One more non related question. (still about the AC 700 efi) I couldn't help but notice there was no high pressure inline fuel filter. A while ago I bought a 10 micron race filter for my Indy 500 efi but never used it. Could I put it in the cat

You will need to use That air box! On my 91 W/C I cut the back off! The cross loop will need to be atleast loosened! Then where the lood indent is I just cut it off and reworked it with window screen! And yes it would be benificial to duct in outside cold air! On my 95 ZRT I have an aftermarket SLP air box and I ducted the hood vents into the top of it!

I would love to use the old box (moded of course) but the only problem is that the rubber boots that fit onto the throttle body are ripped on both sides wide open. I was thinking of cutting the old air box in half, and using collapsable duct hose to connect the throttle bodies to the old box. And covering the top with some screening. (I bet that is very hard to visualize) never done any sort of air flow modifications before. Should be interesting. The only thing I'm worried about is screwing with the system. It's efi so I can't just rejet accordingly.

Thats the Best part! It Is EFI it will do it for You! Just be sure the air temp sensor is still there! Take a Mag Light and focus the beam real tight, with the hood closed, shine the light straight in threw the hood vents! (make them scoops!)

There is no inline filter used.
All the filtering is done in the tank before the pump [in the pickups].
