Zr 800 not wanting to start

Took my zr on about a 60 mile trip, it ran amazing and started perfect. Shut it off went to start it the other day and it would didn't want to go for about 10 pulls. It finally fired up so i took it for a little rip and it ran perfect, shut it off and it wouldn't start again, the weird thing is i could smell fuel and it had spark, kept pulling and it again started and ran fine. I cleaned the carbs and they were like new inside. pulled it over once and it fired right up shut it off then it took about 5 pullsit's just random. Could this be a bad stator causing weak spark or maby a bad coil?

That always is a warning sign... How much of the carb did you clean? If it fired up on the first pull, there is no way the carb was fully disassembled, as it takes a good 20 pulls to get fuel in the bowl. If a sled starts that fast after a carb cleaning, there was lots of fuel still left in the carb, plain and simple.

I'd guess maybe a piece of crud in the idle jet?

Yeah, I meant after the carbs were full. It doesn't seem to want to start unless you try to pull it over really quickly, to get it to spin over fast - and then it will fire right up and run perfectly. I was wondering if that meant the stator was weak and it wasn't sparking right when it wasn't turning over fast enough.

Start with the basics, do a compression test @WOT, then see what Color your spark is! What size are your pilot jets? Are your plugs wet or oil? Did you clean the air box and pipe? Did you empty the tank and fill with fresh Prem?

Compression is 140 on each. I had already gone out in the field and killed it at wide open throttle and the plugs were nice and tan even before the carb clean. Not sure on jet size cause i didn't check, it gets fuel cause i can smell it after about 5 pulls, i did wipe out the air box plus it's gutted so i doubt that has anything to do with it, i know the pipe is clear cause i had it off to paint it and put a different can on at the start of the season and i have put at least 4 tanks of fuel through it by now and it's still taking about 2 too 12 pulls to get it to go warm or cold. I just can't think of much else besides something electrical. Oh and i had primed the cylinder's after that carb clean hence the first pull start.
