My flywheel will not come off

Im starting to really freak out about this. Last season it was determined that my stator was bad and that I do need a new one. The only problem is I cant get the flywheel off. Ive broken every puller known to man trying to get it off and the last time I did I stripped out my flywheel bolt holes and they need to be re threaded. My sleds only worth 1200 maybe 1500 at most and if I take it to the dealer idk if itll even be worth it. None of my friends that know sleds will help me out because they have never had to change a stator. Can anyone give me advice or help or something? I just wanna ride again this season

I had a similiar problem. I had to tap the holes to except a next size up threaded screw. Make sure you have the proper puller. You can also try some penetrating lube on the shaft. But if you don't have the ciorrect puller it can be a bear to get off.

Well what is the correct puller? Ive used two different types. A steering wheel puller and the one with bolts in a 3 way pattern

Tap the holes to 8mm or 5/16 use good Harden bolts. Get a Harmoic Ballancer puller. Use harden washers too! Did you remove the thick washer? Get it as tight as possible and then heat it! And then tap on it!

Yes Harmonic balancer puller was the trick for me too! just like KC said use the hardest bolts u can so they don't bend. That puller is cheap too maybe $15 at any auto parts store

It will come off just takes the correct force. Same as a primary

you gotta have equal pressure all way around the harmonic balancer. It will come off. What leads you to think that you need a stator?

I have tested it with numbers off one of Blaines videos and the numbers are very low. That big washer....I dont remember taking one off but that was a while ago. Is it on the center of the flywheel? I did strip out the threads so I do need to re tap them.

At this point I would take it in and have it done, It should not be this hard. Jmo

Yeah they sure can! Heck last year I had a clutch that I had just put on, kick my but for over a week to get off! I ended up cutting it off! Retap the threads and start over!

Id take it in in a heart beat if I could and have em do it but Im only 18 and Im on a budget. The dealer wants more than I can afford to do it and I cant get it there cuz I dont own a trailer I just put it in the bed of my truck. Been having trouble with the truck so as soon as I get her all good Imma get a torch on the flywheel and crank that thing off

Warm up the flywheel gently, take op the slack on the press bolt and then douse it with ice water. It should fly off then.

Its the taper of the crank that is holding it onto the shaft. You need to apply as much pressure as possible with the puller after you retap the holes, then hit the puller center bolt a couple of times with a hammer and that should break it loose. Too bad you live 150 miles from me otherwise I'd say bring it over and I'll help you.

So youre saying heat it then tighten up the puller pour water on it then use the puller?

When you cool it, it should pop off on it's own.
Do not over heat it as you could damage the magnets.

Once you get the puller on their their is no room to swing a hammer except a few inches if that

What are you using to tighten the puller with? Just hand tightening? What if you took a impact wrench to it if possible.
