99 zl500 clutch questions

99 zl500 efi, it engages real hi, 5000 rpms. i wanna know if it has stock springs in it? they are both yellow, can someone tell me what stock was??

Stock is yellow/white with 46.5 gr arms,yellow with a 51* felix. The engagement is 4800rpm!

wow 4800? thats seems kinda high but if anyone would know it would be you! i have a yellow one and i dont see any white on it, there is a difference there right? also would you know the part number for the yellow/white one???

ok the arms are right, i think the spring is also, there is a dirty looking white looking mark on it but no numbers. i have a zl580 and it doesnt engage that high, is there another spring i can use to easy up the engagement?

The 580 engages at 3500! The 500 will be a dog at 4500! Go threw the clutches and clean everything! Then get your center to centers right! 12.2"(12 1/4"works) Then a new belt and get it as tight as possible!

sorry for all the ?'s but when you say get it as tight as poss, does that mean adjusting the secondary tighter so the belt rides higher on it?

Yes! Once you have the motor moved to 12 1/4" from the secondary shaft. There are 3 shims in between the shevs of the secondary. Try removeing a thick and put it all back together and see if the belt squweels. If not try takeing out another? Once it squweels put a thin back in! This alone will Really help your performance!

GREAT i have the adjustable type on this one, so i can adjust it to where i need it.
