Good Deal ZR 580?

I have been snowmobiling for only one season and used a Yamaha Phazer 480 and am looking to upgrade, my price range is right around $1000 and I want something fun and decently reliable/respected. I found this sled on Craigslist and want to know if it seems like a good deal. I would appreciate any opinions on sleds like this one, if they are reliable, easy to maintain, if this is an appropriate price...

I plan on using it in the Iowa winters ditch riding, running across fields, jumping terraces, maybe taking it to South Dakota or somewhere with more snow, would this machine be capable of all that? Any input would be great. Let me know what you think!

I'd buy it at that price!

My best buy for the buck is the 97 ZR580EFI! The 94 is almost as good, just doesn't have the ETT suspension! There are a few little things with the 580. It is a piston port motor and should have the triple port exhaust. Biggist isue is the piston skirts. If you replace the pistons at 3500 mi it really doesn't come in to play!

I love the zr's. To me one of the best sleds to ride. I've never had major issues with the ones I have owned. I'd buy it for that.

The sled has 1.25" lugs on a 121" track, is this going to be able to handle anything deep? Where would you guys be comfortable taking it?

The guy says: Totally rebuilt, new 1.25 Ripsaw track, Rebuilt Fox shocks, New paint, replated cyl,new pistons, rings, pins, seals. Dial a jets, New seat, Skid plate New Drive clutch, rebuilt secondary, new belt, new bearings, new chain 7 sprockets, new idlers, bearings and bushings in skid, Ultra Q can.

Is that all I could ever ask for for $1500?

When I first got my 98 ZR 600 I took it out west and threw Yellow Stone! It only came with a 1" ! You will be able to go ANY where you want to!
