Have you checked the linkage adjustment?
Was it shifting OK before the repair?

You can look up your parts here and see an exploded view here.
Those springs are part of the shifter assembly that keeps the plates apart.

From the look of some of the pictures, neither reverse or forward is engaged. It looks like the role pin is in place on the shifting fork My guess is that there's some broken/binding down in the lower gear set probably related to the debris you found at the bottom of the chain case. I've attached two parts diagrams to help you track down the source and cause.

Yes you can buy the individual parts to repair it.
Replace the springs and clean it up and you should be good to go.

Your bottom gear is junk as well! I advise you try to find a good used set of gears complete with chain! The dog has poped out and the spring that push it as well! Most likely the front gear is prob egged out too!

With the damage to the top gear the piece went down through and damaged the lower segment.
You would be better off replacing the entire innards because mixing the damaged parts with new or good used ones is a recipe for disaster [failing again in short order].

You mean without reverse!?? I want too keep my reverse! i love it!! hehehe

but im not 100% but i tink gear and chain from a EXT 96 model will fit but the top gear have 19 teeth and mine 18 teeth. And the bottom one is 39 teeth and mine is 40 on my bearcat Wath will be the consequence if I put one more teeth on my top gear and minus one in the bottom!?? the seld will be faster!? But it will be not realy good for the off trail riding no??
