Look for clutch, :'(

Hey guys, a week or so ago, I took apart my clutch from my 96 cougar 550 and it was to far gone, the housing are worn and it needs to be replaced. Im going up north to get some snowmobiling in over feb break, and I need a clutch to go.

If anyone has a clutch laying around, Im interested in purchase. We normally put 1000 miles on or so, and because we have no snow here, i would really like to get some snowmobiling in.

Thanks guys, wipe the dust off your old clutch , im interested!

thanks again!

I have a 6 post off a 440 prowler. Idk if it fits yours or not. Seems in good shape. I have never taken it apart it was in a sled I bought at the auction an the motor was blown so I parted it out.

Alright awesome, Ill wait for a few other people to reply to see if that will fit, I think it should, weights and springs would be the only difference.

not even sure if i would have to trade them out or not.

What would you let it go for?

thanks!

Should be worth $50 plus shipping?

Sounds reasonable, if you get a chance quote shipping

to Newcasltle maine 04553

not sure how much shipping a clutch costs.

But you said it looks in good shape? none of the castings are to worn or anything? sometimes the weights will wear into the inside on the aluminum.

mine did that.

pictures maybe? dont want to bug you to much!

thanks!

Yeah I can get you pics I'll have to text them to you an it's at my shop which I can't get to till tomorrow. An yea it seems in good working shape. The weights look straight an rollers look good. It could use a cleaning as its been sitting for 5 years now.

Would the weights and spring out of a 9 post fit into a 6 post?

Unfortunately they (weights Springs) will not fit. I already happened to find this out the hard way the primary would get stuck out trust me LMAO

but if the taper is the same just use the 6 post. should be 30mm im sure

Yeah, i could probably just use the stock weights and spring from the 440, probably not a huge difference.

next question. If I do want to eventually change the weights, can i buy the weights for the 6 post clutch? and were would i do that?

Yes all the wieght will fit springs too! The only clutch that is different is the NEW 6 tower with the fixed wieghts!
