Try bypassing it and just use the rope!

It was the ignition switch.
I picked up the new ignition switch yesterday and now it starts instantly and stays running. I'm a happy man. Cost me around $28 for the switch with no key. Luckily the key I had from the bad one worked fine with the new switch.
