99' ZR 500 is Backfiring alot.

My 99' ZR 500 (with 1650 miles on it) Backfired three times the other day while I was riding it. It was three times in 80 miles. Is this something that should be checked out? Or not? It never has done that before, so thats why I am wondering.

For less than 5-bucks, new spark plugs are a good place to start.

Actually, I put new spark plugs in a week before this, would it be them? They are not the same brand that were in it before, but that shouldnt matter (but then again I don't know much about engines).
