After 2 days of riding this weekend, I feel my stock exhaust is too loud. Aside from the possibility of offending land owners and the non-sledding public, it's quite annoying to me after a couple hours.

Are there any aftermarket systems that actually may lower the noise emissions on this sled? (98 Pantera 800)

You could buy a new AC silencer but it would probably be cost prohibitive. All of the AC tripples were very loud from the factory so that might not even help.

How loud is loud? I guess ive never heard a pantera tripple. I didnt think it could be that loud?

My ZRT was not very loud stock. Are u sure that you have stock parts installed?

Yeah, it's all stock. Only 700 miles on it so I doubt a new AC silencer would help any.

How loud is it? Hard to quantify, but it's a lot louder than a stock snowmobile should be IMO. It's louder than a typical stock sled but not as loud as racing pipes.

I have the feeling that YamahaVector is right that loud from the factory. I believe the Pantera uses the same exhaust as the ZRT and all other triples of that era.

And on a related note, yesterday while stopped on the trail to change my belt, a Yamaha 4-cycle went by and I was quite envious of the look and sound of that machine (quiet).

How about those "Sno Stuff" rumble packs? They claim to be "loud as stock", but does that mean loud as loud stock or loud as quiet stock?

Yes, my ZRT800 w/ 5K miles is definately louder than it was when new. Last weekend riding through a fishing derby, i was embarrassed how loud it was @20 mph.....

Maybe i'm getting older, but i am pretty sure the sled has gotten louder. I am pretty sure the silencer is junk....wish i knew a easy solution....

I think D&D make "quiet pipes" but I dont know what models they make them for.

You are stuck with your loud exhaust. sno stuff and D&D will only make it louder. as for the yamaha four strokes the last time I heard on they werent exacty quiter either.
