F5 Hard to Cold Start

My son's '03 F5 (carb) was very difficult to cold start. I checked for (air) leaking fuel lines, put in new plugs....everything I could think of. Finally got it running by removing a plug & giving a shot of ether directly into the cylinder. This got it to pop for a while until everything else started working.
What I finally discovered, was the choke/enrichment linkage had loosened up and was not lifting the enrichment valves in the carbs. Now when we cold start, I reach in & manually lift the valve while my son pulls the rope.....starts after 2-3 pulls. That linkage is buried beneath carbs & is impossible to get to. Looks like we'll live with it for the rest of the season & fix it during the summer tear-down.
Anyone else seen this?????????

The choke on my sled (03 f5) was staying on and loading the motor up at idle. I adjusted the cable now it runs fine. How a cable tightes up I dont know but mine did.

The cable adjusts down on the carb end of it. Pain to get to.
