1990 Wildcat decal removal

Hey gang!

Bought an engine & primary clutch out of a 1994 ZR700 to replace the broken 650 in my sled.

Both the engine and clutch were rebuilt about 300 miles ago and when the seller tried starting it this Fall, it didn't have any spark. So he "assumed" the stator was bad, and posted it on Craigslist for $300!!!

The stator is perfect! Just one of the pins was pushed in slightly and not making contact.

Never been a fan of engine cc's stickers anyway, so now that I have the 700 in my sled, I want to remove the HUGE 650 decal!!! Anyone have suggestions as how to easily peel it off?

Get a razor blade,if u have a blade with a handle even better, handle available at youre nearest auto parts store for a buck or 2,saves hands from getting sliced sometimes. Take blade and run it under the decal while warming the decal up at the sametime with a hair dryer, remove excess decal goo with goo gone or gasoline,if using gas be careful dont need much on a rag, works good dont rub to hard if the CYLINDER HEAD is painted because it will take paint off,but if you rub gently enough it will work without removing paint,i have done it in the past.

He wants to remove the 650 decal from the hood.

A hair dryer works well to soften up the glue, then soak it with WD-40 or another non-flammable solvent. Then use a razor blade scraper to lift a corner, keep applying heat and gently pull it off. As you pull it, apply the solvent to the glue to make it release.
Patience will be rewarded with a clean removal.

I just removed most of the hood decals from my zr 600 and i used a hair dryer, and they peeled right off nice, with almost no glue left behind.. then i used a rag with gas for the small amount of glue that was left behind, but like rj said wd-40 works, or goof off, or goo gone, or gasoline.

I use stuff called Sticker Off. And a heat gun! But why? I would pull the old 650 heads, turn them and put on that 700!
