rear shock woes :(

so I went through my 98 zl 500 getting it ready for this season (did an ass load of work, new seat, thumb warmer, top end of motor etc.) and the ass end had NO rebound at all it would just stick down when you depressed the rear, so I pulled out the rear suspention and sure enough the rear shock was shot ( it is a fox shock) so I took it to a local cat dealer and they rebuilt it. I got everything back together and back end was rebounding as it should for about 5-6 times I pushed it down and sat on it, then I sat on it again and got off and the damn thing is stuck down again! so I reach down and feel the top seal around the shock and it is wet! So the sticking down and no rebound has to be from the rear shock and they did a s***ty rebuild right? Sucks now I have to pull the rear end out again because they suck at rebuilding shocks unless there is something else it could be ?????

I would say something has gone wrong somewhere if that is the case. Possibly a bad seal/bad rebuild job though.....that really does suck that you have to drop the rear end out of it again.

And, they should redo it for free since they messed up.

If you drop the rear skid mounting bolts and jack the rear bumper up good and high you may be able to get the shock out without removing the entire skid. I just had to do this as the replacement springs I got from Royal distrib are too short and pop off when the back end is at full travel!
