1999 Zrt 800

Hey. I have a chance at getting a 1999 ZRT 800. I am not very familiar with Cats... Looking for some pro's and con's from all you guys/gals out there. Thanks.

Lots of info on them if you do a few searches.

Pro's-
decent power
decent handling/ride
nice sound to them
fairly bulletproof
replacement parts are usually cheaper than other brands
1999 has a decent cdi
flatslide carbs

Con's
little heavy (Modern twins are just as heavy and 4 strokes are actually heavier)
keep the PTO (primary clutch side) drive bearing greased
water pump failures are somewhat common
has old style stator that is more prone to failure than the 2000+ stator
track lug height is way too small. It spins way too much at take off. Need to replace the track with a deeper lug track.
Only has one oil inlet for oiling the bottom end of the motor (older triples had an inlet at each intake manifold for a total of 3) I added 2 inlets to my 2000 zrt.
13 wide chain and gears..you can snap chains over time.

Overall a pretty good sled. Easy to mod in the future if you go with a big bore kit. There are some deals out there so don't over pay for one.

FAST! Great suspension! Handleing! One of if not THE most Modified sled out there!
Things to look for would be if the speedo works (bearing), and has motor been freshened at about 3500mi! Check compression, looking for about 135#!
Around here a 99 would be about $2800-3500! Big Bores bring Big Bucks!
