Thumbs up Well, Im saving up... But need some advice.

As of this month, I am going to be putting my full paycheck's away, only using money to pay off my phone bill and paying for gas.

So basically I'm saving up for a new sled. I got my eyes set on 2006 Sno Pro 440's, and 2005-2006 F7 Sno Pro's.

Now, which one do you think would be the better buy? Would I be able to keep up with my buddy's Ski Doo 600 consumer chassis sled with the 440? Oh, hold up I got some more question for you guys.

1) Would it be much of a deal for me to trail convert the 440's? It shouldn't be that expensive, would it? Approx amount of $? I would be going for longer distance rides with it, so I wouldn't want to be carrying the Jerry can. I would prefer filling up at the gas station.

2) How often would I be working on the 440 compared to the F7, after trail conversion?

3) Is there really much of a difference between the F7 and the 440 Sno pro other then motor size, and Chassis style? I don't want a heavy sled.

In the end, If I got a 06 440 Sno pro, trail converted it, what would be better for me in the long run, a F7 Sno pro, or a 440 Sno Pro. I'm only 16, I don't want to drop a lot of money onto a sled that's going to become a huge money pit in the end.

Thanks guys,

Robert

The F7 would have the better market return when you decide to upgrade.

Converting a Sno Pro is expencise and it still wont out run a F6!
Not enough difference that you could tell on the trail!

Alright, I will most likely looking at a F7. Are the diamond drives in the 05's any good? Im guessing they fixed that in 06, right? Heard about someone putting a chain case from an 03 into there 05, does that sound possible?

Well, the 2003 F7's were the fastest, and slowed a little with the change to the Diamond Drive in 2004. They are better, and in 2005 were fine. Don't go after an 03 F7 because there were many recalls. I'm not sure about the chain case.

Well I guess Im going to be going with a 05-06 F7 Snopro. They are very nice sleds, I didnt notice upon picking up my buddys '03 that she was pretty rear heavy, but nothing a little muscle cant help. How are the F7's on gas? I heard they aren't the greatest out there.

Btw, Anthony, nice Crossfire. Another sled That I like from Cat.

Thanks caboose36. F7s are gas hogs. They get about 6-7mpgs. My sled wieghs in at 485, more than an f7, and shes not that bad I can lift her in the rear, but I guess its the length. If you like my crossfire, try for an 06 Crossfire 7, essentially an F7 just long track. Hope this helps!

I personally not convinced about the ACT (Dimond Drive)! Yes it is possible to switch it over, just expencive!
The 03 IS THE FASTEST! Is it the ACT? Well yes as well as the Mapping and other things!
