Question 2004 Arctic cat firecat

Hey guys I am currently looking into a 2004 arctic cat firecat with 3000 miles and the used dealer guy is charging 3500. This is in Ontario so i'm not positive if the guy meant miles or km's. I've been reading around about these sleds and I noticed there was a few recalls, what were these all about? Also are these sleds good on and off trail?

There shouldn't have been any recalls in 04 that was 03. 3,000 miles isnt overdoing it, but the price is a bit high, even canadian. They are good only on trail, but excell very well there!

3500 is probably not overly high for a dealer in Ontario. They seem to charge about 15-25% more then a private deal....... I would say it is probably a good price if you like the sled and if you want to assurance of buying from a dealer. Most firecats here in Ontario start at about 3200 and go up from there, and it is a 04, so your call I think.

I guess I don't understand? Why couldn't you just come here buy a USED sled and take it back?

Well you CAN do it, but it can be alot of work sometimes. You have to pay taxes and duty, as well as a transfer fee to get the ownership so it can be used in Canada. I am not saying it is impossible, but knowing people who have done it before, it can cause alot of headaches.

So are you guys positive there were no recalls, becuase I keep seeing things about a loss of steering recall. By the way what was your opinion on the sled tinsoldier?

3500 is all the money for that sled, I tried to get it cheaper but he said he was firm on price. The thing is rough, hard to tell any underlying problems when it shows so poorly. I compare to the 10 or so others I have looked at in the last month. These sleds hold value pretty well at least in this part of Ontario. I would spent 500 to 1000 more on a cleaner unit.

just my 2 cents

Fair enough, so does anybody know roughly what insurance would be for a sled like that? I am only 16 and don't really want to get an actual quote, I am just wondering how high it would be?

SColum, I would be VERY careful of checking insurance prices first. A very good chance that alot of insurance companies would not insure you at that age, if you were the one with the insurance on the machine, not a parent. It may also be VERY high if you can find someone who would insure you.

Check around first for sure though.

Not that I know of, but I just do the insurance under my dad, and the insurance company has no problem with me driving it even though I am not named on the insurance.

As long as you have a beginers lisence, it should be fine. Check with your parents insurance company and see what they say though, but I never had any problems.
