Could be many things... start by switching the plugs around to see if one is better than the other. If this doesn't change anything, turn all of the screws in and back out to exactly 1 then start it up and turn it out 1/4 each time you start it to see what they need to be at.

Start by cleaning the carbs!!!!! The air screw should start at about 1 turn out from lightly seated!

Too much air, but clean everything before you start adjusting!

after i clean the carbs i should start at 1 turn out from lightly seated? it starts up and runs fine now with it out that far and is runni9ng cooler than other cylinders i thought it would run hotter with mor air going in.

Also get a spark tester and double check that you aren't loosing spark while it is running! That would be a sign of a weak stator!

You won't have the correct settings if you do it right now because the carbs run differently in cold weather but yes this is the general idea. 5 seems excessive... you sure it wasn't 2 1/5 and you counted double?

Go Here
http://chadt.us/snowmobile/ArcticCat...1990_-1998.pdf Everything you want to know about Arctic Cat's in those years. Thanks to a member here, can't remember who.

I'm new to sledding, but a guy told me to let a 3 cyl. warm up for about 5 minutesbefore taking off so the left side (PTO) gets hot, this prevents eating up the plugs (fouling).

The pilot air jet screw takes a flat head screwdriver... on mine they face the right side of the sled, but I have roundslides. The other would take a phillips head.
