If you want to then sure, but make sure you don't go older than 2001 since your indy is better than anything older.

I've always liked the zrs my brother has one. If you can, get an EFI. It makes a big impact!

EFI stands for electronic fuel injection and eliminates carbs. They always start with 1-2 pulls. Its possible because the EFI automatically calculates the engine for variables like atlitude (up to like 14,000 feet!) and temperature, so the engine is always running at peak performance!

Get a 2000 ZR or ZRT. You might even be able to get something newer if you trade and throw in a few hundred bucks... my friend has an 02' ZR 600 and it smokes every sled around here!

I've got a 98 zr 600 EFI. It's only got 1667 miles on it so it looks a lot newer so I probably won't upgrade for a couple more years. My only beef with the ZR is the suspension is so hard it is really uncomfortable to drive. Great if you want to jump off the roof but not so much for trail riding. These ZR's are so common you can get a newer than 98 efi for a song. Def get the EFI though. The throttle response is much better than my carbed sled not to mention you don't have to mess around with the throttle or primer to start. Oh yeah and it is pretty quick and fast.

Yes! ZR was the racing sled of it's time, it would smoke any polaris. EFI is a major plus, but if I had the choice of a 500 efi or a 600 carbureted, I'd take the 600. Keep an open mind, any cat will surprise you over a poo :P. The ZLs were nice too.
As for the suspension, I've never heard that before... I always thought that ZRs were pretty smooth rides.

Nope you can do lots better! Find a 01 or 02 ZR 600 EFI with the APV's(arctic power valves) It may be a bit more but it's well worth it! I have a 98 ZR600 and I have upgraded it several times! I love the way it handles and runs!!!!!!

JKust, check the main spring pre-load, they may be set too heavy for your weight.
I weigh in at 240 and still have the springs on the lowest setting with no bottoming.
You may also get the shocks re-valved for a softer ride too.

The price is way to high on that ZR. You could manage that on a 2000 ZR. EFI isnt complelety necessary, but try to get it if you can.

That is too much for that sled but I don't know how things go in Canada. My ZR was a little less than that three years ago when I bought it with a lot fewer miles plus reverse. Craigs list here in Minnesota is loaded with EFI ZR's as well as parts.

Based on what I've seen from the other Canadian deals on SF, this seems pretty decent... I don't know exactly what 2k canadian is in america but with a brand new clutch this is a nice looking deal. Plus it's OBO so I bet you could get it for 17-1800 canadian if you tried.

Don't forget that that ZR 500 also needs a new track soon, so that'll cost more.

You'd be surprised what you can get away with in VT then... I know you ride up here but have you ever looked around (not online) for sleds? I got that partially stripped ZRT for 40 bucks and it had a brand new studded track (148 studs) on it! Keep your eyes open and you can get parts for almost nothing.
