Newbie to forum.
Hello ya all. Just bought a 98 Arctic Cat ZRT 800 triple. Been a long time since I owned a sled, about 25 yrs. ago. Got a couple of questions.
Is there anyway to tell the year by the Vin or serial number? Not sure it's a 98 as the PO handed me a 97 OM for the ZRT600 & 800. No previous registration. All stickers were removed. All I have is a bill of sale, as far as I know, that's all Ohio BMV requires to register it. The S/N is 9849754.
Machine run's great. Only trouble is I'm not strong enough to pull the starter rope, the PO started it with ease, first pull. Is there anyway to convert to an electric start?
Stupid me, I belong to a couple of Diesel forum's, never thought about a snowmobile forum, til I Googled it.
Bill

Looks kinda like I got spoofed (@%*!^*).Listed as being a 98, prolly wanted to get a few extra bucks for it. Well it's a nice clean good running machine anyhow, no indication of being wrecked, but way too many studs in the track, might be an indication of being used for drag racing. Got it for $2300 with a double place 102 wide tilt trailer and a homemade heavy duty lift for it made out of 1-1/4" box iron with casters, lift height is 3 foot. Top end rebuilt 300 miles ago if I can believe that now.
Prolly big bucks to convert to electric start. Oh well live and learn. Lost more than that at the casino's in one night.
Not very good pic's ,sun came out bright just as I shot pic's

Welcome to the forum!
A May 4th, '97 build date would probably make it a '98 model.. the model years are always a built a bit before the year starts...
For $2300 for a sled, trailer, and spare stuff, doesn't sound like you have lost much
Your best bet for an electric start will be a used parts place, like Al's Snowmobile Warehouse. The factory kit is probably available, but you will pay a TON for it through AC... Al's Snowmobile Parts Warehouse - Snowmobile Parts, Snowmobile Parts, and More Snowmobile Parts
Good luck, have a BLAST!!

i would have to agree with bc_dan as far as i know if it was manufactured in may of 97 it would have been a 98 sled.also about the studs 800s need alot of stud to hook up if you don't have enough you will start pulling them through the track

Welcome to the Snow Show! That is ALOT of sled! I hope you are ysed to BIG HP! That is one of,if not THE, best Performance sleds! Stock it was 164hp and mine is at about 200! That sled will do 100mph in 500'! Not nessarly drag raced persay, but sure it has been ran! Be carfull with that beast, at about 70 when the track finnaly hooks up it could jump right out from under you!!!!
