oil leak

i have 2003 f5 how can you tell if the oil seal that the oil pump rod go's through is bad

It would be using more oil than it should.

it has a lot of oil in the exhaust

That means nothing unless you are using more than a quart of oil to 12 gal of gas.
The inside of the pipe will get sooty/oily looking from not being run long enough to get properly warmed up.
A cold pipe is not as efficient at reflecting the exhaust pulse back to aid in the intake process as well.

it dose use a lot of oil i turned down the oil pump but it still smoke real bad after it runs a littel it will leak oil
