Just realised what i had in my yard
Ok I have a Arctic Cat panther 72 thats been sitting for id say about 7 years a shame i know, ive been fixing my go kart and tractor and just got a raptor, what i want to know is attempting to fix it even worth it? theres a garage down the road from my house that does trade in and was thinking about giving in all three, tractor go kart and snowmobile and get a working one from them but idk. Any suggestions? i do have on pic of it but im actually embarrassed in the condition its in.

Actually, all that stuff around it helps you by keeping the UV rays from eating away at everything. You may be pleasantlly surprised at the condition once you get it out and clean it up... Keep us posted, old sled projects are always fun to watch

It does look like it's all in one piece, so that's a good starting point!

Fix her up! Let us know what's wrong with her and if you don't know feel free to ask. I'm learning right now but I'd be glad to help in anyway I can. I'm getting a project of my own .

this would leave less time for me and my raptor 660 lol yea but i noe if i cant get this motor to work ill feel like a failure i got a 3 year sitting go kart to work just fun 3-4 pulls and fires rite up ( with 8 year old oil at the time ) go a weedwacker to work after not beeing udef for 10+ years 2strokes r easier though then 4 strokes sitting wise but i will take pics along the way. Also only up there for a day and a 1/2,or 2 days tops so ill have to work like a monkey. im new to snowmobile engines so ill learn as i go lol
Also ive been reading up on them and ppl say there 399cc and stuff but it says 440 on the side?

Those came with either 295 single, 340 twin, 399 twin, 440 twin.
Even if it says 440 on the hood, check on the engine, at the front side of the fan housing, there is a tag that will give the specs of the engine.
The 399 and 440 used the same base and crank. (stroke is the same)
All you would need to do is change the pistons and cylinders to go from 399 to 440.

See if the engine is free first. If it won't pull over, it may be ring-seized, etc. Good place to start.
