Yeah I got the guide for cleaning them but I didn't want to because I've never done it before so I'm waiting 'till the weekend (on national carb cleaning day lol) for my grandfather to supervise.

Most likely you will want to replace some of the cleat rivets before running it too much.
Nothing like having a cleat come up through the tunnel at 60 mph.

I've looked.....and never found a true "new" track for my 72' panther... Just a heads up. Stuff is getting more and more difficult to find for those older sleds now and they require A LOT of time and devotion, believe me. 10 years I spent working and slaving on "vintage" sleds. They're good when you're younger, but as I got older I just got tired of the constant overhauling and brain picking... But good luck and I have really good pic's of my 72 panther as well, along with extensive knowledge of the wiring on these sleds. Let me know if you need any info.

Just look it over and if you see any cracks or wearing take pictures and show them to us. I don't know about replacing cleats, but if RJ says it then you might want to do it.

As promised Pics i couldnt clean the carb because it started to rain about 5 min after i took the pics and then it was rainin on and off so this is what i figured out

- Spinning the clutch by hand is hard to nearly impossible?
-its not that bad condition
-close to 1200 miles only on it
-one of the spark plug cables were eatin off?
-took pics of eveything you might wanan see to help me out if you need more ima go up soon i think.

thats in pretty good shape. u say u can turn it over a little bit? i wouldnt clean the carb until i know it turns over freely. i personally would try and dump some 2 cycle oil down the cylanders and turn it over to make sure everything gets lubricated and hopefully thatll work lossen it up. and it looks like you got ELECTRIC START! lol

Umm.... i would just remove the plugs and dump oil down the cylinders first. and try to turn it over if it dosent work then i would open the top part and try it again. but lets hear some other comments about it cuz idk someone may have a better idea. i would use 2 cycle cuz it has the additives that the motor needs and if it starts it will just smoke a little when it first starts and help it.

yea, putting oil down it will help it relubricate itself since its been sitting for so long. I wouldnt put any more stress on it or it could seize.
