zr 580 suspension?

I have a 94 zr580 that I am wanting to do suspension upgrades to the rear of the machine. I was wondering if a man could get a rear skid from a newer machine to replace mine, to give a little better ride and a bit more height in the rear.

need all the help I can get

Yes you can.
You will want one from at least a '98.

'97 up will work but you will want to look for a 2000+ since they have more reinforcement then the previous ones. You will need the exact c-c of the holes in the tunnel of the sled that the skid was previously mounted in. Its not a bolt on affair, you will need to redrill holes and attach new support plates inside the tunnel.

So, nothing can really bolt in to what I have other than the stock suspension it came with?

Nothing that will make it perform better. Installing that other suspension is really not that hard to do, there is a how-to out there and the results are awsome.

It is 100% worth it. I can actually say that now, as i just had the sled out for a little tour around the yard. Finally! Compared to stock, its like riding in an old caddie!

PBD is right, its not too hard of an install, as long as you have your measures beforehand from the donor sled.

KC, you did the upgrade to give you the wide stance and bigger travel? I take it you'll rave about it when i ask you how it feels? I'm pretty sure PBD is happy with his 18" fox floats.

Thats next on my list, but not this year.

Floats are NICE! Only have one ride on it and I'm very satisfied with it!
