Congrats! One of my riding buddies has one just like it, I think he should call it "Timex" because it takes a lickin' and keeps on tickin'!

Don't forget to check out the driveline bearing on the PTO side, where the speedometer gear drive lives. Cats are notorious for losing that bearing. Catch it early and it's not expensive... catch it late? <shudder> don't wanna think about it!

Yeah, if the speedo quits working, check that bearing first.

If the speedo quits, does that mean the bearing is toast?? i might actually change it before i ride just in case... i had last years cat do that... had to pull it with another sled for about 15 miles back to the truck!!! and not to mention, f'ed up the whole sled pretty much... wrecked the chaincase, the track, and the bearings... so i sacrificed the rest and built a dunebuggy

The speedometer quits because the bearing fails and when the bearing fails, it drops the driveline ever so slightly, enough to shear the drive to the speedometer gear. No drive, no speedometer.

If the bearing has not been replaced, put in a new one before you ride. It WILL fail, and when it does, it's not pretty.

When some guys put the new bearing on, they pop off the seal on the side of the speedometer gear. That way grease can get INTO the bearing. The way it is now, when you grease the speedometer adapter, hardly any grease gets into the bearing, (the bearing is sealed both sides). No grease, bearing fails. I have seen some of the newer bearings come with small holes drilled in the seal to allow grease to enter. If Cat (and Polaris) had done that first, hardly any failures would occur with normal maintenance. Go figure.

the only thing thats not stock is the exhaust can, that big square heavy thing is gone and there is a small short round pipe in there instead. Im not too sure of the make of the pipe, but i will in a week or so when i bring it home... i fired up this sled after 8 months of sitting, third pull fired right up... so i put a downpayment on it.
