anyone know if the rear shock on my '02 ZR 500 is rechargeable...towards the end of the season when you'd sit on the snowmobile the seat would just sink down and not bounce back up but as the weather got warmer it worked properly...thanks

As long as its the stock ZR shock it is. Either Fox or ACT shocks come stock and a rebuildable. Dont just get them recharged get them rebuilt.

Cat has the kits but your better off getting them rebuilt. This way you know its done right and it requires a bunch of special tools along with nitrogen and the corect filling needle. Places like these are the way to go unless your dealer can do them for a comparaible price.

Just buy a new one for it, or a rebuilt. They are a PITA without the right tools to do the job.

it turned out, that when i had to change out one of the front skocks on my polaris, a rebuild for my bent shock was going to cost about $250, and i woulda had to wait 6 weeks for parts, so instead i just went to my local dealer and had them order one for me, and it cost $290 for the whole new shock. if you do a lot of jumping or rough trails, u should have the rebuildable ones rebuilt every year or two. here is a good place to order parts for all makes and models, at a decent price.

For regular 2002 ZR 500
old p/n = 0703-929
new p/n = 2703-188

p/n for Cross Country suspension sled = 0703-996

ok so here's my next question...before I buy this part. Last winter when it was cold out i would sit on the sled and it would sink to where it normally would but would not bounce back up....when it got warned the rear would boucne up and down just fine....does that mean I should order a new shock for the rear suspension....if so which one front or back...

Pull out the entire rear skid & go thru it!! You'll be amazed how rusty all the pivot joints/bushings get. Grease 'em up good & then it move much easier!!

You can get your shock(s) rebuilt for about $25-35 each. If the shaft is pitted, they would cost about $50 each on top of that....much cheaper than new.
