91 pantera motor upgrade!!!

Well its that time of year!! Can anyone tell me what is the best engine option for replacing my 440 l\c. I want to go bigger for sure.!!!!

I,m pretty handy with a wrench so mods are ok with me.

I don,t mind spending a few bucks if needed so give me your thoughts.

Thanks

NewfieMadman!!

700 Wild Cat motor will drop right in there! I've even got one with a complete crank up rebuild with 0 miles on it, DG crome pipes, 44 carbs and all for $1000!

clutch allignment !!!

I have done a bunch of work on this sled and I still have the same problem. I,ve replaced every bearing but it still will not move.
I had the hood open the other day and I noticed that when the primary clutch engages the belt is pulled sideways a bit. It looks like the clutches are not lined up properly.

How do I check the clutch allignment and how do you adjust if it is out.
Is it possible the engine is not in the right position?

Do a search for "clutch alignment" on this site. Basically, a straight edge from the inner engine clutch sheave to the inner secondary sheave should be straight on. If the secondary is off, add or remove shims behind the clutch until it's straight. If you can't do it that way, the engine may have to be moved.
