Stator swap...
Okay guys, i need a little help here.. i have a 92 ac 340 mountain cat, and the track went on me, and i couldnt find one anywhere, so i bought a parts sled to fix the 340. Turns out that the parts sled is a '90 ac jag 500, air cooled as well. i want to know if I can just swap the stator and get the 500 going instead. The guy told me that the 500 runs well, but dies unexpectantly. He says that the stator is shot, so i want to know if i can just go ahead and swap these parts, and have a batter sled. The 500 has electric start and reverse, two things that the 340 doesnt have. This will be my wifes sled, so i dont want to screw up both of them.

Probably not the same, from previous experience. Check Brown's Leisure World - Home Page and look at the online parts fiche to see if the Part numbers match.

okay, so i changed the stator, and it idles fine, but it doesnt rev out. when driving it, its real boggy, and doesnt want to rev up. revs to 5000 tops, and no more, so i got max 35-40 mph, half throttle, and if i give it more than half throttle, it bogs and slows down any suggestions???

Do you have too align the stator in any way, you might of missed that so the timming is a litle off and it shows more @ higher RPM's.

i was very careful when removing and installing, i dont think i messed up, i put the good one on exactly the same as the old one came off, though it may be wrong, but it runs awesome otherwise, up to half throttle, about 5500 rpm, but on a stand, it goes easily to 7000, half throttle, any more than half throttle, it bogs...

Run it open on a stand for 30 seconds or so, then remove and check the plugs. If they are light tan, it's too lean. Have you put a spark tester on it to see if it's losing spark at high RPM's?
