What is typical Gas milleage?
I have a 2000 ZR 700 and was wondering what the typical gas mileage should be. It is carb, not EFI. Also, what can be done to help with mileage? Any thoughts would be appreciated.
Thanks,

Change to a 4 stroke engine.
Mine averages about 14 mpg, depending on conditions.

My old Wild Cat 700 (same engine) only got about 7!!! Some things to try would be add boggies to the track to reduce drag, Perhaps add a tooth to the top gear, clean up the exhaust flanges, and of course keep a tight grip on your jetting. I would get an EGT to be real sure on the jetting!

The best way to increase mileage is to change your riding style. There really are no add on parts that will help the situation. Just try hard not to get on the gas too hard taking off from stops and coast longer using less brakes when coming to a stop. Same things that can be done to improve mileage in a car. Stay at a constant speed also, a lot of blipping the throttle will suck it right down.

Just think of it this way: You are more than likely spending more money in gas towing the machine than you are riding it. Atleast it is a whole lot more fun to ride it than it is to tow it. IMO that is money well spent. So, who cares about a few miles to the gallon. GO RIDE!!

I had a 99 Carb ZR 700. I was getting 5-6 MPG. I had twin pipes and had to run 430 mains to keep the red light on my EGT gauges from flashing. My 04 F7 gets about 16. I have the D&D PAC system that added about 2 MPG and feels like it added a couple horse.

lol
I'd do it, if the race was in 2 feet of fresh powder... This sled tops out around 85 or so, not setup for lake racing. It gets there quick though!
But I was making fun of the 10 MPH instead of 10 MPG...

Also, make sure the flux capacitor had 1.21 gigawatts of power, and the warp coils are bypassed to the transporter buffers.
You have an O2 censor in that thing?
